CENTER FOR LEGAL IMMIGRATON ASSISTANCE
Founded in 2001, CLIA is Lincoln’s only community-based nonprofit accredited by the Department of Justice to provide comprehensive immigration legal services. Their skilled team of attorneys support immigrants and refugees across Nebraska in achieving legal status, safety and long-term stability.
ECHO COLLECTIVE
ECHO Collective supports refugee and immigrant women in the U.S. by promoting entrepreneurship and creative programs, helping them rebuild their lives and empowering them to confidently call Lincoln "home".
ELCA GOOD GIFTS
ELCA Good Gifts allow you to support meaningful projects in nearly 90 countries around the world. These gifts represent real, funded projects that address the needs identified by local and global congregations. Nearly 90% of your gifts directly support the programs with a little more than 10% of your gifts used for administration and fundraising.
FOOD BANK OF LINCOLN BACKPACK PROGRAM
1 in 5 kids in Southeast Nebraska lives in a food-insecure household. In Lincoln, the Food Bank’s BackPack Program provides these children with nutritious food for the weekend. This school year, the program serves over 2,305 children and their families weekly. First Lutheran supports the program at Pyrtle and Morley elementary schools, providing 30 backpacks each week — 20 for Morley and 10 for Pyrtle.
I'VE GOT A NAME
Every month at least 900 individuals are sold for sex, often multiple times, in Nebraska. 1 out of every 10 are too young to buy alcohol. I’ve Got a Name’s street outreach supports vulnerable women and children in places like streets, schools, strip clubs and prisons. By building trusting relationships, they provide unconditional support and acceptance, helping individuals recognize their inner beauty and rebuild their lives.
LAS ABEJITAS BILINGUAL EDUCATION CENTER
The Center offers an English-Spanish program that fosters creativity, independence, and curiosity in a safe environment. It supports each child's social, cognitive, and developmental needs, promoting lifelong learning and language skills. Las Abejitas Bilingual Education Center, at First Lutheran Church, cares for over 90 children. It provides care for infants and toddlers, preschool programs and before and after school care.
LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF & FIRST LUTHERAN QUILTERS
For 80 years, volunteer quilters have created nearly 28 million quilts for people in need worldwide, distributed by Lutheran World Relief. In 2025, First Lutheran quilters made 133 quilts, coming together monthly to sew and share God’s love, showcasing generosity and compassion through their work.
MATT TALBOT KITCHEN & OUTREACH
For over 32 years, Matt Talbot has been a beacon of hope for those in need, serving hot meals twice daily and maintaining a Fresh Choice Pantry. Through these efforts, they provided nearly 250,000 meals last year alone. Beyond nourishment, Matt Talbot also helped over 100 people find safe, stable housing, turning impossible situations into new possibilities.
MOSAIC
Since 1913, Mosaic has provided person-centered services to Nebraskans with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a faith-based organization, their mission is to empower individuals by improving their health, fostering independence, building relationships, and encouraging community involvement, ultimately helping them achieve greater life satisfaction.
NEBRASKA SYNOD NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS - TANZANIA
Tanzania faces a severe shortage of healthcare workers, with only one nurse or midwife for every 2,800 people. To address this, Machame Hospital and its School of Nursing are training new staff. However, many students cannot afford the $1,700 annual cost for the three-year program. Thankfully, sponsors like First Lutheran and the Nebraska Synod cover these fees, allowing students to complete their education without financial worry.
OUTNEBRASKA
OutNebraska is the only statewide nonprofit dedicated to supporting, advocating for, and celebrating LGBTQ+ people. While not everyone can be out, OutNebraska works daily to push for reform, connect with representatives, encourage civic engagement, and build stronger communities. They also help organizations and individuals embrace LGBTQ+ people through inclusivity trainings and community conversations, creating a more welcoming environment for all.
